Our watchdogs:

Here at Kilconnel Kennels we have two gorgeous watchdogs. Ozzy recently celebrated his 2nd birthday and Tyson is turning 4 next year. The pair love nothing more than a run around the field and a good fuss. They are both enjoying playing with their new pal Arnie.

We are absolutely delighted that our sweet Westie girl, Poppy, has had 4 beautiful pups. She was taken all the way to Nottingham to incorporate some fresh blood into our West Highland Terrier breeding programme. She has had 3 girls and 1 boy and we are planning to keep all of them. They are three weeks old at present and having started to potter about under close supervision from mum. Poppy has been an incredible mum over the years, even managing to raise 10 gorgeous pups in her previous litter. Keeping these pups will be a good legacy and will remind us of Poppy after she’s gone to her new home!

Very sadly we lost our German Shepard, Sooty, this summer. He was a fantastic dog, who was very loyal and a true friend. He never failed to make us smile and had a great life running alongside the horses; making sure to run through the muddiest puddles. He has been dearly missed these passed few weeks.

Sooty left a hole in our hearts and as such we decided we would get another German Shepard pup in hopes that he too will run alongside the horses. His name is Arnie and he’s already a much loved member of the team. Although as you can see, he doesn’t think much of our music and insists on wearing his earmuffs!

With our boarding facilities becoming more popular, this summer we decided to have some building work done to expand 13 of our kennels. The expansion leads out into the fields meaning each kennel is attached to its own individual grass run. This has added a substantial amount of additional space, and gives the dogs more choice. With a few finishing touches left to do, these kennels will be ready for use very shortly. They can be specifically requested by customers on a first come first serve basis. There is a small additional charge on top of our standard rate. All the runs have been concreted at the edges and are secure.

Our gorgeous Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Teddy, has given birth to two gorgeous cavapoo puppies on October 29^th. Both puppies and mum are happy, healthy and absolutely gorgeous! The pups dad, Teddy bear, is a caramel miniature toy poodle who is very well natured and playful! Mum Teddy is an absolutely wonderful dog, very affectionate, loving and a very good mother! The pups are doing very well and already very curious about the world around them. One pup has already had a deposit put on them at just two weeks old, a real testament to how lovely the breed and parents are. They will be ready for their forever homes on December 24^th!

We are very lucky here at the kennels to have 3 beautiful new arrivals. Mabel, Murkle and McDuff are purebred, kennel club registered Scottish Terriers. We have decided to raise them here with the hopes of having Scottie pups in a couple years time – stay tuned! Almost indistinguishable looks-wise at first, the three pups have blossomed and all have a wonderful and unique personalities making it much easier to tell them apart! They have settled in very well already and have fun exploring, having lots of cuddles and playing throughout the day before a big afternoon snooze!
